Why IVF costs differ from patient to patient

- Age and ovarian reserve, which affect the medicine dose
- Whether you need ICSI, embryo freezing or genetic testing of embryos
- Using your own eggs and sperm, or donor eggs or sperm
- Fresh or frozen embryo transfer
- How many cycles you may need
What an IVF estimate usually covers
Ask each clinic exactly what its estimate includes. A typical package may cover consultations and monitoring scans, egg collection and embryo transfer, and laboratory and embryology work. These are often charged separately:
- Fertility medicines and injections
- ICSI
- Embryo freezing and storage
- Genetic testing of embryos
- Extra cycles
How long to plan for in India
One IVF cycle usually needs a stay of about three to four weeks, from stimulation to embryo transfer. Your clinic confirms the timeline after reviewing your reports. Some early tests and medicines may be possible at home before you travel.
Indian rules to know before you plan
India regulates IVF under the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021. Clinics must be registered. Treatment is generally offered to women aged 21 to 50 and men aged 21 to 55. Commercial surrogacy isn’t allowed in India. Your clinic will explain what applies to your case.
